Today’s post is dedicated to my amazing friend Madz, as it’s her birthday! Got a text that there’s a plan brewing for a surprise so headed straight to SM to meet with friends, Beam and Niki.
We roamed around the mall, killing time. We were looking at furniture and appliances because Beam will be furnishing their condo for them to move into next month. And then to ATC so we could buy a cake and position ourselves to get ready.
We went to Banapple but scratched the idea because it’s logically easier to order from Mary Grace where we will wait for Madz to show up. We passed by Crisostomo where Beam was admiring the chairs when Niki said ‘Look, si Madz’. We stiffened for a while and walked real fast! When we were past the resto where Madz and her family was having dinner, we asked her if she saw us walk by, she said we’re safe because she was sitting facing away from the window. PHEW! We were laughing at ourselves for nearly ruining our surprise!
Straight to Mary Grace we went to prepare the buntings and hang until they finish eating. I got hungry so I said, ‘Let’s order something!’ Niki and Beam already ate dinner but they decided to order with me though, lol. I often wonder how they keep their svelte figure even after eating a lot!
I just had a sandwich because I ate a pre-dinner meal at home.
This is me practising how we’re to put the buntings on the cake.
Spent a few more minutes waiting and then we got a text from Madz’s mom that they’re on their way! I went to the counter to put the bunting on the cake and put the candles but the person I was talking to had to ask where was our cake and she couldn’t understand that I want to put on the buntings myself. So I was still on the counter when lo and behold I hear Niki say Madz is here! I went back to my seat, kissed her while hiding the box of the candles behind me. But then the waitress was walking towards me with an unadorned cake!! She backs up towards the counter! HAHA!
So when Madz was talking with Beam and Niki and laughing about our surprise, I went back to the counter to finally stick the buntings in. And out comes another waiter with the lighted candles.
Madz was in tears, she was down in the dumps the whole day and it was such a relief to see her smile! Especially today, her birthday. We sang her the birthday song and waited for her to make a wish and blow the cake.

We stayed for a while, until the store closes their lights as if willing u to go home, talking about getting old and the states of our lives as they stand. Healthy conversations for a healthy heart and soul.
When we were walking back to the parking lot, we also saw this!
